Privacy Policy
Last Updated: January 2025
At Salvatore, we take your privacy seriously. This policy outlines how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you interact with our food plating and presentation courses.
We're based in Quebec, and we follow Canadian privacy laws—specifically PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act) and Quebec's Law 25.
Information We Collect
When you sign up for our courses or contact us, we gather certain details to provide you with a better learning experience. Here's what we typically collect:
Personal Information
- Your name and email address when you register for courses
- Phone number if you choose to provide it for direct communication
- Mailing address for any physical materials we send
- Payment information (processed securely through third-party payment processors)
- Professional background if you share it with us during enrollment
Technical Data
- IP address and browser type for security purposes
- Device information to optimize your viewing experience
- Course progress and completion data
- Time spent on different sections of our platform
We don't collect more than we need. If something isn't relevant to your learning experience or our ability to improve our courses, we don't ask for it.
How We Use Your Information
Your data helps us run our educational programs effectively. We use it for several practical purposes:
- Processing your enrollment and managing your course access
- Sending you course materials and updates about upcoming sessions
- Responding to your questions about food plating techniques
- Improving our course content based on what works and what doesn't
- Analyzing trends to understand which topics resonate most with students
- Meeting legal requirements under Canadian law
We occasionally send newsletters about new courses launching in late 2025 or early 2026, but you can opt out anytime. We won't flood your inbox—that's not our style.
Data Storage and Security
Your information sits on secure servers located in Canada. We use industry-standard encryption to protect data both in transit and at rest.
| Data Type | Storage Location | Retention Period |
|---|---|---|
| Course enrollment records | Canadian servers | 7 years after course completion |
| Payment information | Third-party processor (Canadian) | As required by financial regulations |
| Course progress data | Canadian servers | Duration of enrollment plus 2 years |
| Email communications | Canadian servers | 3 years or until you request deletion |
We employ firewalls, regular security audits, and access controls. Only authorized team members can view your personal data, and they're trained on privacy best practices.
Sharing Your Information
We don't sell your data. Period. But we do share limited information with specific partners who help us deliver our courses:
Service Providers
- Payment processors for handling transactions securely
- Email service providers for sending course materials
- Cloud hosting providers for storing course content
- Analytics tools to understand how students use our platform
All these partners are bound by strict confidentiality agreements and can only use your data for the specific services they provide to us.
Legal Requirements
We might disclose information if required by Canadian law, court orders, or to protect our rights and safety. This doesn't happen often, but transparency matters.
Your Rights Under Canadian Law
Canadian privacy legislation gives you several important rights. Here's what you can do:
Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
Correction: Ask us to fix inaccurate or incomplete information
Deletion: Request that we remove your data (with some legal exceptions)
Portability: Get your data in a common format to transfer elsewhere
Withdrawal: Opt out of marketing communications at any time
To exercise these rights, email us at help@salavatore.club. We'll respond within 30 days, as required by Quebec's Law 25. If your request is complex, we might need up to 60 days and we'll let you know why.
Cookies and Tracking
Our website uses cookies—small files that help remember your preferences and track how you navigate our site. Most are essential for basic functionality.
- Essential cookies keep you logged in and remember your course progress
- Analytics cookies help us see which lessons are most popular
- Preference cookies remember your settings and language choices
You can disable cookies through your browser settings, though this might affect your experience on our platform. We don't use third-party advertising cookies.
International Data Transfers
Your data primarily stays in Canada. If we ever need to transfer information outside the country, we'll ensure adequate protections are in place through standard contractual clauses or other approved mechanisms under PIPEDA.
Some of our service providers have servers in the United States, but they're all certified under recognized privacy frameworks that meet Canadian standards.
Data Retention
We keep your information only as long as necessary. Course records are retained for seven years to comply with Quebec business regulations. After that, we securely delete or anonymize your data.
If you close your account, we'll delete most of your personal information within 90 days, keeping only what's legally required for tax and financial auditing purposes.
Children's Privacy
Our courses are designed for adults interested in professional culinary presentation. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you're a parent and believe your child has provided us with personal data, contact us immediately and we'll delete it.
Changes to This Policy
Privacy laws evolve, and so do our practices. We update this policy when needed and post the new version here with a revised date. Major changes will be communicated via email to active students.
Check back occasionally—especially before enrolling in new courses launching in fall 2025.
Questions and Complaints
If something about our privacy practices concerns you, reach out. We'd rather hear from you directly than have you wondering about how we handle your information.
If we can't resolve your concern, you have the right to file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
